The league dragged itself out of the stone age. Standard scoring became 0.5 PPR plus a bonus for 100-yard rushing or receiving games. It's why scoring jumped in 2022 and why comparing points across eras needs an asterisk.

Someone wanted a 60-yard field goal to pay 6 and a 70-yarder to pay 7, instead of a flat 5 for anything long. The league said no. Kickers remain barely tolerated.

A near-unanimous yes. You can finally stash a hurt player without torching a bench slot. One lone holdout, forever unnamed.

Tight ends can now fill the flex slot. Also 9–1. 2023 was a productive session.

A perennial proposal that finally got over the line. The bench went to 7 (not counting IR), matching the default in most leagues. After years of a brutally tight waiver wire, there's one more spot to hoard on.

The biggest structural change in years. Playoffs went from 8 teams and no bye (2020–2024) to 7 teams with a first-round bye for the top seed. Costs the league $25 for Yahoo Commish Plus. And wouldn't you know it, 2025 was the first year the bye team actually finished the job.

The idea: earn a top seed, choose who you beat up. It passed, then hit a wall. Yahoo only lets you re-seed once, before the playoffs start, not before every round, so there's no way to actually pick a fresh opponent each round. Voted in, never enacted.

The buy-in has climbed over the years to $150 a head, so 2025 started at $1,500. Take out $25 for the Yahoo Commissioner Plus the new 7-team playoff required, add $150 from Kirby's last-place buyout fine under the old formula (he paid to skip his punishment for finishing dead last), and you land on the $1,625 that got paid out. The pot grows, the stakes grow, the arguments grow.

Last place picks its poison: an activity punishment (Costume Day, Pie-in-the-Face, the full humiliation menu) or a buy-out fine, now $300 after Kirby escaped for $150 and the league doubled it. Losing has a price and it's paid in dignity or dollars. The full ladder is in the Constitution; the receipts are on Last Place.

Not a reward, a punishment. Dead last already has its own penalty. The problem was 9th: the team that just misses the playoffs and coasts to the finish with nothing on the line. So now the 2nd-to-last finisher is on the hook for a $50 longshot parlay (+500 minimum odds), winnings split ten ways. The whole point is to put a fire under the team drifting toward the bottom instead of tanking.

Two more managers, more money, more chaos, two more people to lose to. It comes up, it gets debated, it goes nowhere. The league likes its round number of ten.
